Rick grew up on a dairy/hog farm in southeastern Minnesota. He graduated from Harmony High School in 1971, got his B.S. degree from the University of Minnesota in 1975 and his M.A. in 1985.
Rick began his career teaching both high school Vo-Ag and Farm Business Management at Kiester, MN in 1975, then moved to Moorhead to teach FBM at the Technical College in 1976 and is still there. There are now two instructors in the department working with over 90 farm families in the area.
Rick has been a member of NFRBMEA since 1980 and is a member of the Founders’ Forum. He is an active member of his community, retired Volunteer Fireman, past and current board member of Fargo Moorhead Chamber of Commerce, YMCA of Fargo-Moorhead, American Gold Gymnastics and is the current District Deputy #17 for the Minnesota Knights of Columbus.
Rick and his wife, Ginny, have three children, two grown and out of college: Catie and Patrick, while their third, Alison, is a senior at St. Cloud State College.
